I’m Sara Torrome and I’m a fully qualified counsellor based in Beaconsfield, who specialises in loss and bereavement. I also work with people who are navigating other difficult situations in life, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and chronic illness.
I’m a Accredited Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I have completed additional training in Relationships and Infant Loss, which enables me to work with adults who have experienced loss in these areas. You can read more about my qualifications under FAQ.
Loss can affect your life in many different ways. Typically, we think of loss as bereavement but it can also occur after fertility issues, relationship breakdown, divorce, job loss, redundancy, and changes in your health. After experiencing a loss, you may be contending with a range of difficult emotions. These may include feeling:
• Lost and unsure of where to turn
• Very anxious and overwhelmed
• That you’ll never feel like “you” again
• Sad, depressed or hopeless

As your counsellor, my role isn’t to offer a solution to your problems. I aim to support and empower you to live your life as fully as possible.
I provide counselling and psychotherapy in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment, whether that takes places online, over the telephone or in person.
I work on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, depending on what suits you best.
Most of my work is on an individual basis but I also work with couples who have experienced joint loss.
Counselling can help you to gain acceptance about your loss, implement new coping strategies to manage your emotions and behaviours, and feel confident to move forwards in your life. It can also provide an outlet for the emotions that you’re experiencing.
If you decide to work with me, you’ll gain a greater understanding of yourself and your choices. You’ll have the opportunity to work through the worries and challenges that are affecting you, and to ultimately feel better about both yourself and your future.
I’ll also help you to create practical techniques that you can use when you feel anxious or overwhelmed.
